When I first received my 3600, it was an absolute gem and worked perfectly. It was a great Blu-ray player as well as a great media center. Samsung recently released the latest firmware update(Sept 30th, 2009), and my unit has now frozen completely. By frozen, I mean it does nothing but power on and off. This is a wide spread problem across the board. Not only the 3600 models, but the 4600 and 1600 as well. Thousands of these units are no longer functioning. Fortunately, my player is still under warranty, and I've been asked to send it in (at my cost of shipping) to be fixed. The bad news is, I'll now have to go weeks without a player, and I've been hearing horror stories from other Samsung owners who got their players back in worse condition than when they began. Additionally, If you do have a Samsung Blu-ray player and this happens when you're beyond the warranty range, you're stuck with a $300 brick...even if it is an error caused by Samsung. My advice: choose another brand.
UPDATE: (10-19-09) I had to call Samsung today to check on the status of my repair. The rep informed me that my warranty had expired for the labor portion and I was additionally informed that the warranty is only good for 90 days! So if Samsung breaks your blu-ray player through one of THEIR updates, and its beyond 90 days, you're out of luck. It gets better. They had the status of my player on hold until the warranty was cleared...so they've had my player all this time and have just let it sit there and collect dust because they wouldn't call to tell me the warranty had expired even though I've only owned the player for 4 months! After much negotiating, the rep(Dan) agreed to extend my warranty to have the player covered, but refused to send me an email or anything in writing to confirm this. My Samsung days are over!Get more detail about Samsung BD-P3600 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player.
